Taking our EKG Technician Course
This comprehensive, 50-hour EKG Technician Certification Program prepares students to function as EKG technicians and to take the ASPT- Electrocardiograph (EKG) Technician Exam and other national certification exams. This course will include important practice and background information on anatomy and physiology of the heart, medical disease processes, medical terminology, medical ethics, legal aspects of patient contact, electrocardiography and stress testing. Additionally, students will practice with EKG equipment and perform hands on labs including introduction to the function and proper use of the EKG machine, the normal anatomy of the chest wall for proper lead placement, 12-lead placement and other clinical practices.
What Is a EKG Technician?
Electrocardiograph (EKG) technicians, also known as cardiographic or electrocardiogram technicians, perform diagnostic tests to aid doctors in identifying and treating cardiovascular problems in patients. These tests help detect irregularities that may result in a heart attack or heart disease.
What Does a EKG Technician Do?
EKG Technicians administer a variety of cardiovascular tests, including the electrocardiogram (EKG) which measures the electrical activity of your heart through small electrodes. The EKG records your heart’s activity as a graph of lines, with spikes and dips known as waves. It provides doctors with important information about the health of your heart.
