Heart Life CPR’s first aid training classes designed by the American Red Cross, give you the information and the skills you need to help adults and children during many emergency situations.
What You Learn
When you understand first aid, you'll gain the ability to help those in need. Through our first aid certification classes you'll learn how to respond to specific situations, which will help you care for people in crisis as they wait for medical professionals to arrive. This gives them the best opportunity for a positive outcome – and gives you the opportunity to change someone's life for the better.
What We Cover
Designed to help non-medical professionals provide assistance in times of crisis, our courses allow you to gain an understanding of first aid best practices for a wide range of conditions, including:
Neck, head and spinal injuries
In addition, our first aid classes typically cover information on administering CPR and using AEDs – allowing you to become certified in all three (first aid, CPR and AED) in one convenient class.
First Aid Classes
When you take a first aid class from Heart Life CPR, you'll gain the skills you need to help others during times of crisis. Designed to last just a few short hours, our first aid classes can help you recognize the signs that someone needs help and administer the right type of care. In addition to offering certification courses for the public and medical professionals alike, we also offer abbreviated recertification courses in first aid. This way, you can easily maintain your skills, and your credentials.
Type of First Aid Courses
Because we recognize that people learn differently, we deliver first aid classes in a variety of ways. This allows you to stay up to date on the latest techniques your way. You can choose the type of class you want based on your scheduling needs and/or your learning style. We currently offer two types of classes, including:
In Person: Led by knowledgeable instructors, our in-person courses combine lecture with hands-on skills sessions. Perfect for those who learn best in a traditional classroom setting, our in-person classes give you ample time to ask questions and become comfortable with the latest techniques.
Blended Learning: Featuring award-winning simulation learning, our blended learning programs combine self-paced, interactive instruction and in-person skills sessions. Blended Learning courses allow you to learn on your schedule, then demonstrate your skills to a certified instructor.
Why Get Certified
The first aid training and certification process takes just a few hours to complete, but can help you deliver the care that someone needs while waiting for medical professionals to arrive.
When you successfully complete any of our in-person or blended learning courses, you'll receive a two-year certification, as well as access to refreshers that can help you maintain your skills throughout your certification period.
First aid recertification classes allow you to renew your skills, learn the latest techniques and can help keep your memory fresh – so that during times of need, you're ready to respond. Designed specifically for those with credentials that are valid but nearing their expiration, our first aid renewal courses are delivered in less time than our standard first aid classes, yet allow you to maintain your certification for an additional two years.
How Renewal Works
To renew your first aid certification, you can choose to take an in-person class at our facility or register for a blended Simulation Learning course, which allows you to study online, then complete a hands-on skills session in person.
Like many new skills, first aid takes practice. But if you aren't able to exercise your skills regularly, they're easy to lose. In fact, according to the American Red Cross Scientific Advisory Council, first aid skill retention declines within a few months of initial training – and continues to decline as time goes by. In addition, the council found that less than half of course participants can pass a skills test one year after training.
In order to help keep your skills fresh between your initial certification and your first aid renewal period, we've developed refresher materials, which include the latest information, as well as interactive activities, like quizzes, games, and videos, that you can complete on your schedule.
For optimal knowledge and skill retention, we recommend accessing our free first aid refresher materials every three months.
Recertification & Continuing Education
Along with our first aid certification program, we also offer recertification courses for current certificate holders, as well as continuing education credits for first responders, nurses, teachers, social workers and others. Our teams are currently approved to award CEUs in Preparedness and Health and Safety Services courses, including CPR/First Aid/AED, wilderness and remote first aid, BLS training and more.
