About our Phlebotomy Technician Certification Course
This 90 hour Phlebotomy Technician Program prepares professionals to collect blood specimens from clients for the purpose of laboratory analysis. Students will become familiar with all aspects related to blood collection and develop comprehensive skills to perform venipunctures completely and safely. Classroom and lab work includes terminology, anatomy and physiology; blood collection procedures; specimen hands-on practice; and training in skills and techniques to perform puncture methods. This program includes a clinical externship rotation for all students. To be eligible for the clinical rotation, students must successfully complete the 90-hour program, submit to a thorough background check, drug screening and meet other requirements.

As an important member of the clinical laboratory team, you will:
draw blood specimens by venipuncture, syringe and micro-collection techniques
collect and process other clinical specimens
prepare samples for laboratory testing and analysis
assemble and maintain medical instruments such as needles, test tubes, blood vials, and centrifuges

Knowledge and practice of safe phlebotomy skills are covered in this course as well as professional experience covering all the technical and clinical skills required to surgically withdraw blood or introduce fluid into a patient. All practices and skills will meet requirements and expectations of the Clinical and Laboratory Standards Institute (CLSI) and the National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Sciences (NAACLS). Our team will personally introduce to you to the scientific procedures associated with phlebotomy and the safety precautions for both the patient and the healthcare provider.
